My afterthoughts on The Expendables 2 (Contains Spoilers)

Caught this sequel this afternoon with my financee at Cathay Cineleisure. Since we watched Expendables 1 and enjoyed it very much, we decided to catch the second sequel. Stallone brings back his old team together with some new faces like Jean-Claude Van Damme, Liam Hemsworth (brother of Chris Hemsworth aka Thor), Scott Adkins, Yu Nan and of course the legendary Chuck Norris!

With Jean-Claude Van Damme announced as the main villain in this film, I knew Stallone is not going to have an easy fight. And this is proven when Barney lost their new recruited snipper in a mission. Devastated to revenge their team member, the team track them down and eventually found them and managed to killed them. A pretty simple plot but in between veteren actors like Chuck Norris and Arnold Schwarzenegger showed up to give Barney a helping hand in reaching their objective.

Personally I find the plot not as interesting as the first sequel, but I still enjoyed it because of the several guest appearances throughout the show. Specially the scene above, where Anorld, Stallone and Bruce Willis formed a line firing at the baddies. But the most disappointing part is Jet Li, he only appeared in the first mission and did not show up after that. And I would rather see more of Scott Adkins action, his fighting scenes with Jason Statham is too short.

  1. Bro..that why the film showed more on jet li in early stage. Surprisingly van damme was a weak villain. Only showed his signature kicks twice and then beaten by stallone strong punches..i thought van damme can nearly kill stallone first..a little dissappointed..arnold and bruce showed up to kill those rookies..very easy job after all..nothing fantastic..those rookies just came out to let those old folks kill.first sequel showed more actions..anyway still an enjoyable movie..stallone is still my idol :-)

  2. Thanks for commenting bro. Ya, I agreed Van Damme is too weak. Age is really catching up with them. Although there is nothing fantastic with killing those rookies but well it is still nice to see big guys from various famous films get together for some actions! Don't you agree..?
